Retiring after 25 years service to the Community

It is with great sadness this week that SEBEV Search & Rescue bid farewell to two of their longest serving members.

Bob Hearne (Director) and Ian Bennett (Treasurer) have decided to retire from operational duties within SEBEV Search & Rescue after over 25 years dedicated service.

Bob and Ian have led the group through much change over the last 15 years when they took over after the old Director resigned. They have built the group and team as a whole and feel that now is the right time to move aside. They will still remain as Trustees for SEBEV Search & Rescue so will not lose touch. Bob Hearne said “We feel that now is the right time to retire, as the team has a strong group of members and is in a very stable financial state. We obviously will not lose touch completely as SEBEV Search & Rescue has been a big part of our lives but we feel now is the time to let some of the other members to take the reigns.”

SEBEV Search & Rescue could not let them go without a fuss and arranged a surprise retirement party last weekend. Bob and Ian were presented with engraved pocket watches and certificates of service. Niki Toogood said “I’m amazed that we managed to keep it a surprise. We had a great turnout from both current and ex-members all to bid Bob and Ian farewell.”
