Two members of SEBEV Search & Rescue recently qualified as Lowland Search Team Leaders following a course run by the United Kingdom Lowland Search Institute (UKLSI)
UKSLI provides research and training to the lowland search community in the UK and the course was delivered by current practitioners in accordance with the ALSAR Training Policy and Syllabus. SEBEV members Sam Avery and Chris Curry attended the course held at the Wiltshire County Scout Centre near Devizes, which ran from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 March. The course was a mixture of class room presentations supported by handouts and practical exercises with a formal assessment during a field exercise on Saturday evening, and on Sunday with a short written test.
Chris Curry said "The course was well structured and supported by assessors with a wealth of experience from many of the lowland search teams. It was demanding but at the same time fun. I'm sure that all that qualified learnt a tremendous amount in a relatively short time and the organizers deserve a big vote of thanks." |
