SEBEV Search & Rescue Team had a busy weekend due to the recent snow fall. The team were asked to provide 4x4 support on behalf of Oxfordshire Emergency Planners over the week end of 18 & 19 December. The heavy snow south of Oxford meant care workers and hospital staff from the John Radcliffe needed transport to work from homes in Wantage, Didcot and Ashton under Wychwood. Late on Saturday evening two nurses were transported to the hospital and on Sunday a care worker was taken to visit a patient. Over 267 miles were covered during the period. Chris Currey, SEBEV Emergency Planning Liaison Officer said "Whilst we are primarily a Search & Rescue team we have also been providing Civil Contingencies support to the Thames Valley council authorities as well as the statutory emergency services since 1980" |
