All members of SEBEV SAR have now qualified to use Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) following a training course this week. The training and certification was provided by PreMed Healthcare.
Chairman Sam Avery said “Given SEBEV’s primary function for Search & Rescue in Berkshire and our role in providing first aid and stewarding at local events, it is essential that all our members are proficient in the use of AEDs. Almost every single member of the team is now qualified in the use of the AED and the accompanying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills. We consider this an absolute minimum requirement of all members regardless of role.” Many of SEBEV SARs members are already qualified in a range of first aid skills from First Aid at Work through to Wilderness First Aid and beyond. The members are also actively encouraged to put that training to good use by joining their local Community First Responder schemes.
