All operational SEBEV SAR members undertake the Search Technician (SAR TECH) course either run by SEBEV or another ALSAR team. The SAR Tech course was originally created by SEBEV in 2001.

Whilst it has been adapted for use by many different teams the course detail and syllabus has changed little since it's creation.

You can download the original 2001 course from here

All SEBEV courses are designed to exceed the syllabi set by ALSAR and delivered to a high standard by experienced SAR practitioners many of whom hold formal teaching qualifications.

Courses run internally by SAR teams include;

  • Seach & Rescue Technician
  • Search Team Leader
  • Search Controller
  • Navigation
  • Communications

UKLSI is a volunteer organisation specialising in SAR training and is used by many teams. Of particular note is their SAR controllers course which is currently the only one of its kind in the UK.

Advanced SAR skills such as Search Management are obtained by attending internationally recognised courses such as those run by the MRC and the Emergency Response Institute though there are others available.
